Approximately 17000 people were sent to there, tortured and smashed. When the regime was collapsed only around 12 survived. The stupa was set into 17 tiers in which the first to the 9th preserved the skulls and the 10th to 17th housed other bones. A small museum was also set up with a small video room that provided a short history of the killing field.
