Itinerary

You will be welcomed and pick up by your tour guide and driver from your hotel lobby at 7am then head toward SAMBO PREIKOK temple group which is located 170km east of SIEM REAP in an ancient town in the pre-AngKorean(616-635AD) CHENLA period, established by king ISANAVARMAN I as a central royal sanctuary and capital known as ISANAPURA. The building of SAMBO is characteristic of the pre-Ang Korean period with a sample external plan and the primary material is brick but laterites and sandstones are also used for certain structures. The whole compound is made of 3 clusters classified as group C(central). The newest group dating the 9th century. It is occupied by the central sanctuary with Lion sculptures that had inspired the popular name PRASAT TOA (The Lion’s Temple). There were other 18 ruins plus anther main feature is the tower of Ashram ISSEY. The group S (South) PRASAT YEAY POUN includes 22 sanctuaries dating 600-635 AD and group N (North) is considered the main temple and it date from 7th AD. Dedicated to one of the reincarnations of Shiva known as GAMBHIRESHVARA.
         In 1970s the US aircrafts bombed the area in order to get right off the Khmer rough guerrillas and North Vietnam soldier causing some damages to site, left several craters behind plus the Guerrillas group planted many landmines which all were cleared only in 2008.
    It is listed to the UNESCO site in July 2007 some towered are studied and restored by Japanese team. It is a worth wide and remarkable experiencing this site. After enjoy your late lunch in a good local restaurant on the way then return home.
