Preah Vihear, Koh Ker and Beng Mealea

Itinerary

As it will be a long drive tour, you are required to be ready at 5 am at your hotel lobby and take away breakfast is recommended.
After you are greeted by your tour guide at your hotel lobby, then set out the tour to Phreah Vihea temple which is a round 236 kms away and takes around 3 hours and half to get there,upon arriving the site  you will be transferred to a pick up truck for going up the mountain. Phrea Vihea is an ancient Khmer temple constructed by Khmer kings who ruled the country 10th to 12th century Ad situated a top 530 meters(1724feet) high cliff in Dangrek mountain range and has the most spectacular setting of all the  temples  during the Khmer empire. It is being constructed along a long north south axis, rather than having the conventional rectangular plan with the orientation toward east direction. It located in Phrea Vihea province bordered with Thailand. in 1962 following a lengthy disputed between Thailand and Cambodia over the ownership, but finally a majority of the international court  of Justice provided justice to Cambodia and on the 7th of July 2008 it was listed as a Unesco world heritage site. The temple is not yet restored but has the stunning intricately carving in the lintels and the structure which is almost as splendid as those reliefs at Banteay Srei temple.
The next stop will be Kohkeh temple which was once a capital city of the Khmer    founded in the midth of 10th century during the upheaval time. The main structure is the  steep seven tiered temple  pyramid 30 meters high called Prasat Thom once was housed a huge Lingam statue hence the original name of the city is Lingapura city of Linga and another name was Chok Gargyar the city of glance. Some of its life-size statues from this site are on displayed at the national museum in Phnom Penh. There also once was an ancient high way that linked from here to Angkor and Wat Phu( today is part of Laos ).
Enjoy the scenic view before getting the last stop is Beng Mealea temple.                                                  
Beng Mealea is the 12th century temple means Lotus Pond located at the foot of the Kuken mountain where the Khmer empire began. It was built as Hindu temple and would probably completed by Jayavarman 7th. It primary material is sandstone where the quarry site is only several kilometers away and the building itself is largely unrestored with many trees, vines and some thick brush thriving amidst its collapsing tower, courtyards and walk ways of which many of its stones lying in a huge heaps. Head back to your hotel after.
